Program Description
Led by Communications professors, Hayley Miller, John Kilpatrick, and Lisa O'Toole, this program provides you the unique chance to have an immersive experience in Washington DC while earning Lewis credit. Washington D.C.is the center of the media for our country. It is where public relations, journalism and video work together to achieve strategic communication goals in government relations.

The course is designed to have our students visit national monuments as well as media centers in our nation's capitol. The structure of the class and final project will require students to dig deep and find stories centered around the site visits, such as the ties between the Martin Luther King Jr. and Abraham Lincoln memorials. Students will use the skills they have learned in class, such as filming, editing, taking photos, research, graphic design and social media, and use them to create a multimedia package based on the monuments visited. Traveling to Washington, DC is the perfect destination for the program because students will be able to creatively apply what is taught in the classroom setting.
