Program Description
Spend a semester in South America in the land of the tango! In association with the Lasallian International Programs Consortium and St. Mary’s University of Minnesota, you can study the fall, spring, or academic year at the Spanish Studies Abroad's Center for Cross-Cultural Study in Cordoba, Argentina.

Spanish Studies Abroad (SSA) offers semester programs in Córdoba, Argentina at the Universidad Nacional de Cordoba (UNC). SSA facilitates a true cross-cultural exchange by inviting students to expand their world-view through intense immersion of the culture. At UNC, SSA works in cooperation with the Programa de Espanol y Cultura Latinoamericana (PECLA), which offers a broad variety of courses in language, literature, history, and culture.  PECLA's courses are designed to serve the needs of the international students who come to UNC to study. Located in the center of historic downtown, it is home to rich historical sites, architecture, and resources.  Students have easy access to museums, theater, nightlife, shopping, and public transportation.

Córdoba is the second largest city in Argentina with a population of 1,300,000 (10% of the population are college students). It is in the foothills of the Sierra Chica mountain range in Northern Argentina and is surrounded by lakes and rivers, making it a perfect location for water sports, hiking, horseback riding, and other outdoor activities. Córdoba is also recognized as a center for arts and learning with many universities, museums, and theatres.

Courses
The SSA program begins with a required one-month Intensive Language and Culture Session. This intensive course prepares you with practical language study at the advanced-intermediate and advanced levels. It also introduces you to the culture and people of Argentina. You earn 4 semester credits for this class that prepares you for the regular semester. During the regular semester, students generally earn 16 - 20 credits per semester (including the intensive language and culture course). Students have the opportunity to choose integrated courses from a broad spectrum of disciplines at UNC.

Housing
During the one-month intensive language and culture course, you live with a local family which will help you gain an understanding of daily life and customs. The homestay includes full room and board and laundry once a week. There is one student per home. For the remainder of the program, you have the option of living in a residence hall or continuing to live in a home. Student residences include double occupancy rooms with a kitchenette, two meals per day Monday - Friday, in room high speed Internet connection, laundry facilities, television room, study room, pool access, and use of the sport facilities.

For the current program charge amount, please check the Budget Sheets above or contact the Study Abroad Office.  The program charge includes Lewis tuition, accommodation, two meals per day Monday through Friday, program-sponsored excursions, and a mandatory $300 Lewis Study Abroad fee.

The program fee does not include airfare, passport and/or visa fees, additional meals, supplies, and personal expenses.

Program charges are based on costs of the prior year, as well as projections for the current and coming years. Inflation and fluctuating exchange rates make it difficult to state a fixed cost.
