Program Description
Spend the summer in Alicante! In association with the Lasallian International Programs Consortium and St. Mary’s University of Minnesota, you can study either one or two 4 week summer sessions at the Center for Cross-Cultural Study in Alicante, Spain.

The Center for Cross-Cultural Study's (CC-CS) Summer Terms in Alicante are specially designed for students entering absolute beginner to high-advanced Spanish levels who want a rich immersion experience on a Spanish campus. This intensive language program is enhanced by homestays, study visits, cultural activities, and optional complementary survey courses, all of which help to bring context to the language and enhance immersion.

The summer programs in Alicante offer two intensive academic terms, with rich cultural components to support the study of Spanish language and culture. Each 4-week session with a home-stay serves as an ideal short-term study abroad experience. You will take one intensive language course and may complement it with a 1-credit cultural course.

Alicante, the jewel of the Costa Blanca, is a charming harbor city that is both tranquil in its coastal climate and vibrant with modern Spanish life. The culture, architecture, language, and people have all been shaped by the region's rich history of sea merchants and conquerors.

For the current program charge amount, please contact the Study Abroad Office.  The program charge includes Lewis tuition, accommodation in a homestay, three meals per day Monday-Saturday, laundry, program-sponsored excursions, medical insurance, and a mandatory $300 Lewis Study Abroad fee.

The program fee does not include airfare, passport and/or visa fees, additional meals, supplies, and personal expenses.

Program charges are based on costs of the prior year, as well as projections for the current and coming years. Inflation and fluctuating exchange rates make it difficult to state a fixed cost. Lewis University, therefore, reserves the right to adjust program fees and the right to cancel or alter programs and courses.

To be eligible, you must be a Lewis student with at least a 3.0 GPA who has Sophomore, Junior, or first semester Senior standing or will have that standing when you participate.  There are no language prerequisites for this program.
